Ford Vehicles to Feature iTunes Tagging

by Lincoln in the News on December 29, 2009

Apple’s iTunes has become ubiquitous among young and old alike. For true music lovers, iTunes provides a vast array of music, pod-casts, and much more. Because of its popularity, and the prevalence of Apple’s music devices, it’s truly no wonder why more vehicles are featuring iPod compatibility.

Beginning in 2010, Ford Motor Company will be the first automaker to provide car buyers with iTunes tagging on their HD Radio receivers and download songs to their iPhone or iPod device. Other than Ford customers, drivers would have to purchase an after-market HD Radio to get this same functionality.

As the first factory-installed option, Ford is quickly becoming the top brand for in-car entertainment and information. Tags can be saved via Ford’s stellar Sync infotainment system where it can then pass the metadata to an iPod once it’s connected. This allows true audiophiles to see playlists of tagged music, preview music, or even download it via iTunes with ease.

Ford vehicles continue to offer more for consumers in conjunction with their Sync system. Just recently, Ford began researching open-source applications for the system that would provide plenty of additional functionality. And, with the addition of new iTunes tagging, the system is increasingly useful for even the most adamant of music lovers.
