The Lincoln Town Car has been at the top of Lincoln’s luxury lineup for ages, but the times have finally caught up with the aging sedan. The new Lincoln MKS is poised to take over the top spot in the Lincoln lineup. Although the Town Car is still going to be produced, it is destined for fleet sales only, while the MKS will pickup where the Town Car leaves off with the majority of consumers.
Sharing a similar platform to that of the Ford Taurus, the MKS sedan differs from the MKZ and MKX which are currently riding on platforms that are closer to the Ford Fusion and Ford Edge. The styling of the MKS is also similar to the new Lincoln design direction. Recently, Ford has spent more time differentiating the Lincoln brand from Ford models says Lincoln Minneapolis, despite the use of similar platforms, to give the brand its own unique character and to make it standout more as a bonafide luxury brand.

Powering the new MKS is an all-new 3.7 liter V6 engine. The engine is based on the 3.5 liter Duratec engine used throughout much of Ford’s vehicle range. Mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, drivers can also choose to shift the MKS manually. According to Ford Lincoln Service Boise, the 2010 Lincoln MKS will also be offered with the EcoBoost engine, which Ford promises will provide the power of a V8 engine with the efficiency of a V6. In addition to the standard front wheel drive drivetrain, the MKS is also available with all-wheel drive.
As with any luxury brand, potential buyers of the Lincoln MKS can expect a wide range of standard and available amenities and features. Some of these features include Xenon headlights, Ford’s popular Sync infotainment system, and cruise control with radar, all of which already impress and excite New Jersey Lincoln dealers‘ customers.
The Lincoln MKS sedan offers a more stylish and exiting vehicle than the Town Car, which has needed a replacement for a very long time. Offering more styling and technology than the outgoing Town Car, the MKS will certainly help Lincoln maintain its edge over other luxury competitors.
