After three years of ownership, Lincoln vehicle are expected to be more reliable than vehicles from Toyota, Lexus, and others. That’s according to J.D. Power and Associates, which saw Lincoln climb to the No. 1 spot in vehicle dependability.

Lincoln was followed by Lexus and Jaguar. J.D. Power’s reliability study was based on responses from 43,700 original owners of 2008 model-year cars.

“It’s a tremendous honor,” said Morris Jelks, new car manager at North Florida Lincoln. “When compared to Lexus, Mercedes, BMW and even Jaguar and Porsche, we come out as No. 1, that’s a huge accomplishment,”

The acknowledgment couldn’t come at a better time. Ford is currently laying the foundation for the brand’s rebirth as a top notch luxury brand that can complete with the likes of Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz.

According to said Scott Tobin, director of Lincoln product development, the J.D. Power recognition “really is some confirmation for us that the processes that we put into place three or four years ago, the product-development processes that we undertook, are starting to show.”
